Travel Plan
What is a School Travel Plan?
A School Travel Plan (STP) is a document which sets out how we will promote safer, active and sustainable travel, with the main emphasis on reducing the number of journeys made by private vehicles.
Why do we have a School Travel Plan?
Supporting active travel benefits the school, the local community, and the wider area by reducing traffic and congestion.
The STP is a commitment to develop safer routes to school, can be incorporated into many aspects of the curriculum and follows the ideals set out in Curriculum for Excellence.
At Roundwood Primary School, we want to:
- Decrease congestion associated with the ‘school run’ at the beginning and end of the school day
- Improve pupils' health and activity levels
- Ensure road safety, partly generated by school run traffic
- Improve air quality and climate change
Please read our School Travel Plan below to see the measures we have implemented to reduce the number of vehicles on the journey to school, encourage more active and sustainable travel choices, and improve safety on the journey to school.
Parents' Parking Promise
The area outside our school is busy in the morning and at the end of the school day. Parents who park close to entrance place us and our friends in danger. Please sign the Parents’ Parking Promise and make our school a safer place. Contact the School Office for a form and when completed we will send you a sticker for your car.
Thank you.
