Roundwood Primary School celebrates positive Ofsted outcome

We are incredibly proud to share the outcome of our latest Ofsted inspection, which recognises the significant progress our school has made and the exceptional care, commitment and ambition that underpin everything we do.

Under Ofsted's new inspection framework, Roundwood achieved a Strong Standard in Early Years, with Expected Standard judgements across all other inspection areas, alongside fully meeting all safeguarding requirements. This is a fantastic achievement, particularly as the new framework sets a much higher benchmark for schools than ever before.

Inspectors recognised Roundwood as:

  • "A united school at the centre of its community with a nurturing culture at its heart."
  • "A caring school where pupils are happy and kept safe."
  • A school where staff know pupils incredibly well and ensure every child receives the support they need to succeed.
  • A school where pupils share a love of learning and are well-prepared for the next stage of their education.

Highlights from the report include:

  • Strong Early Years Provision – Inspectors praised our ambitious curriculum, calm and welcoming environment and the high-quality interactions that ensure children are exceptionally well-prepared for Year 1.
  • High-quality teaching and learning – Improvements to the curriculum, particularly in reading, writing and mathematics, have already had a significant positive impact, with pupils producing high-quality work and gaps in learning closing quickly.
  • Outstanding care and inclusion – The report recognises our nurturing ethos, carefully tailored support for pupils and the effective adaptations that enable every child to flourish.
  • Positive behaviour and personal development – Inspectors highlighted pupils' kindness, resilience and respect, alongside the wide range of enrichment opportunities available through clubs, trips and community partnerships.
  • Committed leadership and governance – Leaders and governors were recognised for their clear understanding of the school's strengths, their systematic approach to improvement and their unwavering commitment to securing the very best outcomes for pupils.

The report also identifies the next steps for the school, including continuing to strengthen curriculum sequencing across all subjects and maintaining our focus on improving attendance. These priorities closely reflect our own self-evaluation and provide a clear direction for the next stage of Roundwood's journey.

This inspection outcome is a testament to the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our pupils, the support of our parents and carers, and the commitment of our governors. Together, we have created a school where children feel safe, valued and inspired to learn.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to building on this success and continuing to provide the very best education for every child at Roundwood.

We invite you to read our full Ofsted report and celebrate this achievement with us.
